Atmos Energy
Giving back to the community is woven into the culture at Atmos Energy. Atmos team members and executives frequently invest in and volunteer with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to improve access to education, income and health right here at home.
One of Atmos’ key social impact goals is to encourage bright minds and healthy futures for children. The company’s partnership with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas is just one of the ways Atmos advances this important goal.
In the spring of 2024, Atmos was the presenting sponsor of the largest and most impactful United Way Reading Day to date. This unforgettable event impacted over 20,000 local students and included more than 1,200 volunteers, VIP guests and fun-filled experiences that directly supported early literacy in our community.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Atmos also sponsored our Vooks program, which enabled us to provide free animated storybook subscriptions to children ages 3-6 and early education teachers throughout North Texas. In addition, Atmos has long led its own Workplace Campaign, with employees generously investing in United Way every year to create opportunity and access so all North Texans can thrive.
We are committed to increasing early learning and literacy, and United Way is the perfect partner to help us achieve the greatest community impact.
Partnership Spotlight: Encouraging Early Literacy
Only 50% of third graders in North Texas read proficiently. But when we introduce children to the joys of reading, we support early literacy and empower students’ future success in school and beyond.
Each year at United Way Reading Day, volunteers from across our community read to children to share their love of books and encourage early literacy. With Atmos Energy as our presenting sponsor, Reading Day 2024 was bigger, more exciting and more impactful than ever before, as we welcomed more than 1,200 volunteers who read to more than 20,000 local students on 42 elementary classes.
This incredible event was an opportunity for Atmos Energy to advance their goal of encouraging bright minds and healthy futures for children. With a focus on improving early education and literacy, Atmos stepped up to sponsor United Way Reading Day, encouraging students to fall in love with reading at an early age. With this partnership, Atmos is directly advancing progress toward our Aspire United 2030 goal of increasing by 50% the number of North Texas third graders who read on grade level.
