United Way Reading Day

March 1, 2024

Join us on March 1 for Reading Day presented by Texas Instruments—one of our most exciting, meaningful and impactful events of the year!

Reading Day presented by Texas Instruments is a unique opportunity to inspire thousands of North Texas children with a love of reading—which is the gateway to education. This year, volunteers will distribute free books and read to thousands of preschool and elementary-aged scholars at campuses across North Texas, sharing the joy of reading through incredible books that inspire kids to dream big.

Kicking Off United Way’s Centennial Celebration

In 2024, Reading Day presented by Texas Instruments will be bigger, more exciting and more impactful than ever, because it’s the official kick-off of our year-long Centennial Celebration. This is our opportunity to celebrate with the community our first century of service to North Texas—and to walk hand-in-hand with supporters like you to achieve our Aspire United 2030 community impact goals so that all North Texans have opportunities to thrive.

Honorary Reading Day Chair

Laura Bush, Former First Lady of the United States

We are honored to welcome Laura Bush, former first lady of the United States, as this year’s Reading Day chair. A former librarian and teacher, Mrs. Bush is a vocal advocate for early reading initiatives. This year, two of our Reading Day book selections are from Mrs. Bush’s 2023 Summer Reading List for Kids.
