Arcosa

With more than 150 locations across the U.S., Arcosa calls North Texas home. An important part of its corporate culture involves improving the lives of those experiencing hardship in its hometown of Dallas.

Recognizing an opportunity to expand its impact in our community, Arcosa reached out to United Way of Metropolitan Dallas to develop a partnership aimed at supporting income and workforce mobility, key impact focus areas for both organizations. This has been a story of true teamwork, on both sides.

In 2023, United Way teamed up with Arcosa’s Heart Team, a cross-functional group of employees that collectively guides the company’s philanthropic direction. After the Heart Team chose a direction for their primary focus for impact, the United Way team got to work, developing a collective impact model and gradually narrowing the focus of the collaboration.

Recognizing the targeted, lasting and measurable impact they could make, Arcosa chose to invest $1.1 million in our community over the next four years through United Way’s career-focused programs, Southern Dallas Thrives initiative and Centennial Anniversary. Together, Arcosa and United Way will improve access to education, income and health for thousands of our North Texas neighbors, creating an impact that will last for generations to come.

A partnership between a company like ours and United Way can have tremendous impact in the community. As a company, we don’t have the resources to do it ourselves—we’d have to hire people to figure out how to make an impact in Southern Dallas. United Way is already organized and supporting the right nonprofits there to help us do it.
