You Can Put a Book in a Child’s Hands Every Month This Year

Each year, supporters like you provide around 12,000 children with free monthly books through our Once Upon a Month™ program.  Just $36 puts one book a month in one child’s hands for an entire year, but that’s only possible when someone like you chooses to act.

Reading at grade level empowers children to thrive at every stage

Just by having books at home, kids learn to read earlier. They stay in school longer. And research shows that early literacy changes a child’s trajectory — not just in school, but in income and health outcomes for the rest of their life.

Through our Once Upon a Month™ program, children across North Texas receive age-appropriate books delivered directly to them every single month. Not a one-time gift. A message that says: you are the kind of kid who reads.

Last year, we sent 11,977 North Texas kids books every month.

Here’s what happens when books show up every month:

One book a month. That’s all it takes to make a child feel like a reader.

$36 does that for one child. $72 does it for two. Whatever you can give today, it shows up in a child’s hands — and stays with them for life.
