How to Support Kids All Summer Long
Summer should be a fun and carefree time for children, but that’s not always the case. During the summer months, many in our community are more vulnerable to food insecurity, learning loss and other challenges.

Here’s how you can be part of the change:

SUMMER MEALS
Prevent Childhood Hunger
In many local school districts, 90% of children rely on federal nutrition programs. That means when the school year ends, tens of thousands of students lose access to regular nutritious meals. Your $25 gift can go toward supporting summer meals programs that provide millions of meals to local children.

ONCE UPON A MONTH
Share the Joy of Summer Reading
Students lose, on average, about 20% of their school-year gains in reading during summer break. A $36 donation can support Once Upon a Month™, which delivers free age-appropriate children’s books to families every month, encouraging early literacy by stimulating curiosity, language development and learning skills.

UNIFORMS & SUPPLIES
Make Sure Every Student Starts School Ready to Learn
Parents are expected to spend around $660 per child on back-to-school purchases—a sum many families can’t afford. With a $45 investment, you can ensure every student goes back to school with the supplies they need to succeed, including school uniforms.

DOLLARS FOR COLLEGE
Invest in a Child’s Future Success
Children with at least some college savings are three times more likely to attend college and four times more likely to graduate. An investment of $50 can support programs like Dollars for College, which seeds college savings accounts for low-income students, putting them on a path to attend and graduate college.
Invest in Lasting Change
When you invest in United Way, you create lasting change right here in our community. The money raised here stays here to improve access to education, income and health so all North Texans can thrive.
