Collin County Initiatives
Collin County is one of the largest, most diverse communities in our service area. We lead and invest in a variety of initiatives that are customized to the unique challenges and opportunities in this county as we work to improve access to education, income and health for its residents.

Collin County Early Childhood Coalition
The Collin County Early Childhood Coalition focuses on important issues for children from prenatal to age 5, as well as their families. We work together with individuals, agencies, businesses, nonprofits and school districts to ensure that every child in every neighborhood has the opportunity and access to thrive.
Expanding the Capacity of Community Organizations
Since 2019, we have provided expert-led instruction and funding to community organizations within Collin County, with a goal of enabling participants to scale their impact and more effectively address disparities in education, income and health.
In 2022, we partnered with Communities Foundation of Texas to create the Collin County Nonprofit Success Institute, which continues this work. So far, 21 Collin County community organizations have completed our capacity-building programming.
Advocating for Public Policies or Advocating Meaningful Change
United Way’s advocacy work is focused on creating positive change in education, income, and health public policies by:
- Developing relationship with elected officials at all levels of government and across party lines;
- Sharing what we have learned from our initiatives and hear from the communities; and
- Focusing on where we align with others and working with allies to collectively drive change
Collin County Partners
To expand our impact in North Texas, we collaborate closely with a variety of Community Impact Partners that are working to improve access to education, income and health. Our open competitive application process identifies those organizations that will have the greatest impact on our community-wide Aspire United 2030 goals.
In our 2022-2025 grant cycle, we are directly investing $3.3 million in 15 Collin County-based community partners that improve access to education, income and health for tens of thousands of local residents every year.

Engaging Volunteers to Make an Impact
Since 2020, we have engaged more than 1,000 volunteers through 15 volunteer activations in Collin County. These volunteer engagement projects impacted the local community by exposing elementary students to early literacy; curating clean, safe environments for children; and more.
Volunteering is a powerful way to invest your time and talents to shape the future of our community. We make it easy to find virtual and in-person volunteer opportunities to improve access to education, income and health in North Texas.
