Steve Hall
Executive Chairman of Conscious Capitalism
Chairman and CEO of Make It Matter Foundation
Steve Hall is the founder and CEO of Generosity Ventures LLC, as well as the chairman and CEO of Make It Matter Foundation. He is also the founder and former CEO of driversselect (which has since been renamed Echo Park).
With the purpose of demonstrating how the power of generosity can create highly successful outcomes in business, Generosity Ventures invests in early-stage and middle-market opportunities in which leadership demonstrates what it means to be a generous company.
The Make It Foundation operates on the belief every dollar and hour invested in a specific cause does not yield the same impact. The organization aims to fund strategies that have the potential to produce substantially higher returns through calculated risk profiles that are often viewed too risky by most nonprofits but yet have proven to achieve results that are five, 10, 20 and even 100 times greater than other organizations doing similar work.
From 2004 to 2019, Steve served as founder and CEO of driversselect, a national retailer of “nearly new vehicles” that has reached nearly $2 billion in total revenue through innovative wholesale and retail channels. The business model was based on the principles of Conscious Capitalism with a purpose of reimagining how people would experience the workplace and serving as an exemplar for how businesses can scale and achieve sustainable profits well above the market through a unique culture focused on creating value for each key stakeholder. driversselect was acquired by the Sonic Automotive Company, a Fortune 500 publicly traded company, in 2017 and rebranded as EchoPark in 2019.
Steve is the executive chairman for the Conscious Capitalism Board of Directors and a board member for Lovelife Telehealth. He has served as a board member of several branches of Young Presidents’ Organization, including YPO North Texas (2015-2016), YPO Gold Palm Beach (2019-2023) and YPO Dallas Gold (2021-present). He also served as co-chair of YPO Dallas Gold from 2023 to 2024. From 2001 to 2012, he was president and board member of the National Automotive Association.
Steve is a graduate of James Madison University. He and his wife, Joy, are raising three boys. He enjoys golf, tennis, running, meditation, good food and wine, outdoor walks with friends, and engaging in continuous learning and development with seekers of wisdom.
