What are you passionate about?
Improving the quality and availability of early care, social emotional, development, and education for ALL children under the age of five. Every dollar invested in high-quality programs for young children yields a return of at least $7. You really can’t beat that!

What gets you up and inspired every day to come to work at United Way?
The opportunity to fundamentally change our community. 100 years from now people will look back and say this United Way created the foundation for the Dallas of 2120. We have the opportunity and the responsibility to make sure that foundation is strong and the future bright!

Empowering children to get an education and be successful in their careers, personal lives, and communities. The educational enrichment and college and career readiness work being done in our schools, and our ability to change the future by inspiring hope and opportunity in the next generation.

I believe in our mission to improve lives in our community and United Way’s unique role in bringing together leaders from all sectors of the community to work collectively to help people in need. No other single entity has the vast network of champions that United Way has gathered in our 90 year history.

What’s your role at United Way?
I oversee the broad array of educational work being done by the Community Impact Department at United Way. From developing partnerships to help address gaps in our educational landscape, to working in partnership with local school districts and nonprofit partners on United Way sponsored initiatives, or assisting as a liaison to the education strategy panels for our competitive grants process, I strive to position United Way as a thought leader and community resource to help area students succeed educationally.

What gets you up and inspired every day to come to work at United Way?
United Way allows me to use my talents and passion to serve my community in ways that engage individuals, corporations, and nonprofits to truly make a difference. Plus, I get to do this work with an amazing team that is smart, driven, and fun. It’s rare to work where people encourage you to not settle for the status quo, challenge you to think outside the box, and support you to be innovative in finding solutions to help solve educational, health, and financial disparities in our region.

My dream for Dallas is to make our community a better place where all individuals have the opportunity for success as they define it.

What are you passionate about?
I am most passionate about learning. I strive to be a lifelong learner and enjoy expanding my understanding of a variety of topics that interest me both personally and professionally.

What gets you up and inspired every day to come to work at United Way?
I am inspired to come to work at United Way because I have a passion to help individuals who are in poverty or are marginalized in our community. I believe that our work through United Way can reduce the systemic and generational barriers that exist in our society and instead provide opportunities for individuals to improve their lives and the lives of their family.

I dream about a Dallas where all citizens have the opportunity to establish financial security, and where our children are educated and prepared for success beyond high school in the 22nd century; more importantly where they are leading the world from the international city that Dallas will have become. I dream about a fit and healthy Dallas population that lives and works well. And, I dream about amassing the brainpower and person-power required to battle the inertia of circumstances—mobilizing individuals and institutions with the resources, the profile, the imagination, and demonstrated commitment to Dallas’ future to do the seemingly impossible.
