On January 15, Women of Tocqueville members gathered virtually for a baby shower to celebrate expectant moms from WiNGS. During the shower, moms and volunteers played baby shower games such as baby emoji Pictionary, baby word unscramble and name that “baby” song. Moms also shared the things they were most excited and anxious about, and volunteers offered tips and words of inspiration.
Gifts for the shower were made possible by the donations from the Women of Tocqueville WOT Joy! event in December as well as by the generous support from the following sponsors: Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Interabang Books, Smocked Auctions, Nancy Perot, and Ross Mulford. These gifts impacted 60 expectant moms.
WiNGS is a significant community partner with United Way of Metropolitan Dallas. United Way of Metropolitan Dallas funds four core programs offered by WiNGS, through their Community Impact Fund investments (i.e., a 3-year grant program): Financial Resiliency Program; Career Pathways Program; Women’s Enterprise Program; and Nurse Family Partnership Program.
The Nurse Family Partnership Program partners first-time moms with experienced nurse home visitor to improve birth outcomes, maternal and postpartum health, infant health, and builds family self-sufficiency and stability.
The partnership with WiNGS on this event aligns with the Women of Tocqueville mission to give, advocate and volunteer in support of the community through the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, and to leverage the collective power and leadership of women to produce visible impact in education, income and health in North Texas.
A special thank you to Stephanie Bird, Katie Rose and Carol March, fellow members of the Women of Tocqueville Steering Committee and the Volunteer Events Subcommittee, for your leadership, service and dedication to our mission.
