United Way Announces Eighth Round of Grants to 14 Local Nonprofits

Today, United Way awarded grants to 14 local nonprofits (see list of recipients below) totaling $75,500. Through our Coronavirus Response & Recovery Fund, we continue to support our community partners who are providing urgent assistance and resources for North Texans—access to food, shelter, healthcare, and emergency financial assistance—as well as those working towards longer-term recovery to strengthen education, income and health.

With the incredible generosity of donors, corporate and philanthropic partners, United Way of Metropolitan Dallas’ funding for coronavirus response, recovery and rebuilding has reached $11.9 million.

To date, United Way has invested $3.3 million in 248 local nonprofit organizations providing critical support for our community. Together with our partners, we will impact the lives of over 1 million North Texans.

Our team will continue to work with community leaders and partner organizations to provide new funding recommendations and adapt to the evolving needs of North Texans. As United Way funding transitions to mid-to-long-range recovery and rebuilding initiatives, we will remain focused on education, income and health outcomes affecting our community.

“By recognizing where the need is greatest and applying our resources, we can identify and build the interventions that give people the opportunity for mobility, education and health care that’s excellent, regardless of ZIP code,” said Jennifer Sampson, United Way Dallas President and CEO, in a recent op-ed in the Dallas Morning News.

United Way is committed to building a better future for all North Texans. We hope you will join us in lifting up our community through a contribution to the United Way of Metropolitan Dallas Coronavirus Response & Recovery Fund.

United Way of Metropolitan Dallas, Communities Foundation of Texas, and The Dallas Foundation, joined by more than two dozen philanthropic funding organizations, launched North Texas Cares, which enables local nonprofits to ask for emergency financial help from all participating organizations through a streamlined online grant application.

The magnitude of this pandemic calls for innovation and proactive, strategic collaboration—at a rapid pace. North Texas Cares is the social impact community’s collective response to addressing both immediate and long-term needs of our most vulnerable populations.

Together we are enabling efficient and timely access to philanthropic dollars, ensuring those resources reach the individuals and families most in need, without placing an undue burden on the nonprofit organizations providing them.
