Women of Tocqueville 10th Anniversary Kickoff Reception Recap

The 10th Anniversary Kickoff Reception in anticipation of the dinner and celebration in September, was held on Wednesday, May 23, at the Bivins Gallery at the Crescent. Gallery owners Karen and Michael Bivins warmly welcomed guests while hosting the complimentary reception for Women of Tocqueville members and spouses. Karen Bivins announced that 10% of any purchases made at the Bivins gallery until the end of June would be donated back to United Way.* Thank you to Karen and Michael Bivins for their generous support.

McDermott-Templeton President and CEO of United Way Jennifer Sampson opened the remarks by announcing that the new campaign chairs for 2018-2019 will be Tocqueville members Mary and Rich Templeton. This is the first time in United Way’s history that a couple has chaired United Way’s Annual Campaign. Jennifer then introduced Women of Tocqueville 10th Anniversary Co-chairs Kristy Faus and Carol March. Kristy, who also serves as the Women of Tocqueville Annual Campaign Chair, thanked all members and past chairs in attendance. Carol March announced that our 10th Anniversary Dinner and Celebration will be held on Friday, September 28, at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science. The dinner will be complimentary to all Tocqueville members and their spouses. Carol also announced that the celebration will include the presentation of the 2018 J. Erik Jonsson Volunteer Award – United Way’s highest volunteer honor to long-time United Way supporter Lyda Hill.

Guests enjoyed mingling and meeting artists Lidia Vitkovskaya and Denis Mikhaylov from Russia whose work was on exhibition at the gallery. To view photos from the event, please click here.
