Learn more about our partnership with the City of Dallas that supports organizations working to address homelessness.
United Way of Metropolitan Dallas and the City of Dallas have established the Homelessness Services Capacity Building (HSCB) Program to support small and emerging nonprofits that work to address homelessness in Dallas.
The HSCB Program will take place over eight sessions and will cover topics that include:
Fundraising and grant writing
Marketing and branding
HR/volunteer management
Nonprofit financial and operational practices
Program delivery
Board governance
Participants who complete the program will be eligible for compensation of up to $3,200 for their time attending the program, as well as a course completion start-up funding grant of up to $10,000 and reimbursement for the costs of an independent financial audit.

Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must fit into one of three categories:
Not currently a nonprofit organization, however operating/providing services as one, without the certifications needed to qualify for funding. We will consider the organization’s past and current program success, funding, assets, expertise and experience.
Currently a registered nonprofit organization that has not applied for any governmental or private funding
An established nonprofit organization needing capacity building assistance that aligns with the topics that are part of the HSCB Program
The address of each applicant’s administrative headquarters or local administrative headquarters must be within the city of Dallas. Organizations that provide services to Dallas residents but whose headquarters are located outside of the city of Dallas are not eligible for the program.
Applicants must have at least one program focused on providing services to individuals experiencing homelessness or in danger of becoming homeless within the city of Dallas.
If selected for the HSCB Program, your organization must commit to having an executive team member participate in each session. The session dates and times are detailed below in the Timeline section above.
